Rabbit Baiting

Somehow this country has allowed rabbits to get out of control (again!) and I can't help but notice the multitude of rabbits at the Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus every time I drive by. For every one rabbit above ground, there are ten underground. I would like to suggest a rabbit baiting programme for February this year (it has to be February). Pindone is easily obtainable through a local landcare group. For those that ...more »

Energy Efficient Product Swap

I think it would be a great idea for the Uni to try and host a product swap, for example, old filament light globes for CFL globes, showerheads etc. This has two benefits, whilst Environmental benefits are obvious, for students living in temporary/share accomodation there is an avenue to increase the efficiency of their temporary home, reducing their living costs and impact whilst studying. Due to the temporary nature, ...more »

bike parking and locker availability at Waurn Ponds

There has been a recent increase in the number of staff and students riding bicycles to the campus. However, there is not enough space for the number of bikes to be parked undercover. Not everyone has access to put their bikes in their offices. Many people are happy to ride to work on rainy days but would like to be able to protect their bikes to at least some extent on rainy days. The undercover bike racks next to the ...more »

Mini yellow desk bin for recyclables

I love the new office recycling scheme but an additional yellow mini bin, like the red waste one, might encourage more recycling. I recycle everything I can but my desk tends to accumulate recyclables throughout the day (even though the recyclables bin is only a few steps away!). I appreciate there would be a cost involved ... just a suggestion

Need More Recycling Bins EVERYWHERE on Campus!

It pains me every time I see someone at a printer notice they've made a mistake or printed too many pages and toss a stack of sheets in the trash. There should be paper recycling next to every single printer on campus, and preferably next to all trash bins, so students and staff can be green without having to go looking for recycling options. There should also be glass/plastic etc. recycling bins in and near every location ...more »

Doggy 'calling cards' on walking tracks around campus

Install Dog waste bags and bins and signage at various locations around the campus walking track. As we now have an estate across the road from the Waurn Ponds campus the campus is a 'free for all' for walking dogs and there are a now extra 'traps' that need to be watched for by staff and others who use the track. Don't have an issue with community using our lovely grounds - but maybe a 'gentle reminder' that it is private ...more »
